Actually, the way the artist, Dante Perez explained it, runs along the same lines as you said. It speaks about the dangers of indolence. You enjoy goofing off too much, not realizing how scarred you spiritually, and emotionally become.

while i was looking at this painting i was wondering why did the painter didn't made the aura somewhat vivid like color it red to show the emotion of the people, was there no love or lust? hehe (me and my silly imagination)...
